The idea for WhereUapp was conceived in 2023 by Yenzokuhle Sisekelo Maphalala in his form 4, with the vision to make it easy for people to find a place to live and save time.
"I was on a call with my cousin it was 6pm I think, he had just informed me that he had spent the whole day looking for a house in Mbabane and still had no luck finding it. I asked him, 'What if there was an app to help people find a place to stay faster and easier?' That's when it hit me, the birth of WhereUapp. I immediately hung up the phone after telling him I had to write this idea down."
At first, I had no idea about Airbnb's functionalities and how it worked. I had only heard about it and that it helps people find places to stay. It was later, probably minutes after, when I got back to my cousin and had told him what I had written down that I remembered Airbnb existed. That didn't put me down. I didn't even bother to do my research on it, I didn't care."
It wasn't helping the people in Eswatini since people only got vacant houses from Facebook, which is unreliable, and when you try contacting the person you find out the house is taken or the post is outdated and irrelevant, and then there was word of mouth. I had not realised I had created something better than Airbnb. I included everything about moving, including moving services. WhereUapp lacks nothing; I explored all the corners of moving and what happens when someone finds a place to stay."
